The Tigerhawk is Back at Kinnick Stadium on FieldTurf

The Iowa Hawkeyes’ Kinnick Stadium is getting a nearly $90 million facelift. At the center of the project: a brand new FieldTurf Revolution 360 system, making this the seventh FieldTurf field to be installed on University of Iowa’s campus. The installation is slated to be completed this summer.

The Hawkeyes first chose FieldTurf for Kinnick Stadium in 2009 when they were dealing with drainage problems on their natural grass field. After more than 8 years of use, the university was pleased with the performance of their FieldTurf system and, this past October, decided to choose FieldTurf once again to be the playing surface for their nationally-ranked football program.

"Iowa Football has had a superb experience with the FieldTurf surfaces in Kinnick Stadium, The Indoor Practice Facility, and Kenyon Practice Fields. FieldTurf's design and installation teams are detail-oriented and knowledgeable. The finished product surfaces have proven to perform at a consistently high level given our sport demands and variation of climate conditions in the Midwest."

Paul Federici, Director of Football Operations

The new surface will showcase a black Tigerhawk with gold trim logo at midfield, the first time since the 1980 season.

“We are pleased that the Hawkeyes’ administration thinks so highly of our product and our company,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “Everyone at FieldTurf is completely committed to providing the Hawkeyes and their fans with the safest world-class surface in existence.”

Named after the concept of completeness, the Revolution 360 fiber features optimal durability, resilience and feel. Quickly becoming the most popular surface in North America, University of Iowa will join an impressive list of current users, of which features CenturyLink Field, home of the Seahawks & Sounders; Gillette Stadium, home of the Patriots & Revolution; Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Falcons and United; Providence Park, home of the Portland Timbers; Princeton University, Toledo University, University of Texas at El Paso and over 200 High School and community fields.

FieldTurf is the turf of choice in the Big Ten conference, featured at 10 of the 13 game fields in the conference including the University of Michigan, the University of Wisconsin and Ohio State University.
